If there is something lodged in her throat she will have trouble eating and swallowing.

There would be a sore spot on the area of the blockage in her throat. You can try pressing up and down her throat and see if she reacts.

She would probably cough quite a bit as well.

no reaction to pressing on throat

How about her ability to eat and drink?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Other causes of drooling are dental pain and nausea.

she eats fine
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Gabby, Dog Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

I would just keep an eye on her then. If she stops eating well, she could have nausea or dental pain.

If she has trouble swallowing, she may have a sore throat, a partial blockage, problems with the nerves that innervate her swallowing muscles, dental pain, or nausea.

If she is drooling non-stop she is going to dehydrate even if she is drinking water.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Gabby, Dog Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

If she is drooling a lot, or non-stop, then take her into the vet today. The vet should be able to do an exam and figure out the source of the drooling and hoarse bark.

The regular vets should be open until noon or 1:00 today.

That way you can avoid the emergency clinic prices.
