hello?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Altman, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

So Benadryl is 2.5 mg/ml so 9 ml is 22.5 mg which is a moderate dose for a 9 pound puppy but luckily benadryl has a wide range of safety and outside of lethargy tonight there shouldn't be any ill effects. In rare situations it can cause excitement so monitor for this as well

With one so young please ensure you can wake him hourly tonight as a precaution and if he is very dull consider a veterinary er for supportive care.

But again benadryl has a wide margin of safety and other than having a good night's sleep he should be just fine

Please let me know how else I can assist you both today

he is sleeping..so I should just wake him up every hour?
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
I was just scared that I gave him an overdose
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Altman, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

It is a high dose but won't be toxic. I would advise waking him hourly to ensure he is responsive to you overnight

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you both

If the information I have provided was helpful I would be grateful if you would rate our chat with the stars at the top of the screen so I am compensated for my time. Thank you and best of luck to you both, truly!

It is a high dose but won't be toxic. I would advise waking him hourly to ensure he is responsive to you overnight as a precaution and take him to a veterinarian if he is overly lethargic and minimally responsive tonight

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you both
