What have you tried? You mentioned a shot, did you already try something or ask your vet for something? We can try some things over the counter if you would like.

Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Alright, well here is what I would try. I would try to get Nexgard from your vet or online and use this once monthly for 3 months. This will ensure that there are no mite issues. Then I would start with giving him some Claritin (an antihistamine) and some oatmeal baths. What does he weigh?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Nexgard is a monthly flea and tick preventative that will also get rid of mites

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
shes done 99% of that
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

If you have already tried over the counter stuff, then most likely he will need some prednisone. Has your veterinarian offered you any prednisone?

Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Not that I know of. There has to be a Dr./Patient relationship to write a script. The Dr. has to see the pet and examine before prescribing. It's the law, just like a human Dr.
