My concern when a dog this age vomits and then doesn't want to eat is that they may have an obstruction since puppies tend to eat so many things they shouldn't; however, having said that, there are other possible explanations which wouldn't be as serious. Since she's playing and not acting lethargic, the following is what I'd suggest:

1. Withhold water for 8-12 hours, then offer small amounts of water or pedialyte through the day.
2. Withhold food for 12-24 hours and then offer a bland diet of 1 part boiled, skinless, chicken breast (or leanhamburg) to 4 parts 20-minute white rice. Feed only a small amount at one time, 3-4 times through the day. I would not feed any regular dog food.

3. You can give Pepcid AC (Famotidine) which might help with the nausea. This is available at most human pharmacies. The dose would be 0.25 mg/lb twice a day. For example, the dose for a 40-50 lb dog would be 10 mg twice a day with the dose for a 60- 70 lb dog 20mg twice a day.

Other options include Prilosec at a dosage of 1/2 mg per pound once a day. For example, a 40-50 lb dog could be given 20 mg once a day.

Zantac can be given at a dose of approximately 1 mg per pound twice a day which would be 75 mg for a 40-50 lb.

If she continues to vomit and or worsens in any way, then a vet visit may be wise.

I hope this helps, Deb
