My dog had a tooth extraction on Thursday. Before that she was pawing at her muzzle and yelping, She is on pain pills but nothing has changed she is still doing the same thing.what can i do.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name and age?

Maya she is five.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Maya?

The vet did not send her home with a cone. He said she did not need one.I have to pull her paws away cause once she starts she won't stop.

So this does not mean that there is still a problem...it may just still be pain from the actual extraction however I would see your vet tomorrow....

I think you are wrong, As its still same thing. But i am definitely taking her in, I was hoping to get some advice as to what to do for her tonight.sorry but i feel my money has been wasted
Dog Veterinarian: Dr B, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

sorry you are unhappy.....I do dental work everyday and some dogs are just more painful than others....you might want to ask if they took dental xrays.....

There is nothing that can be done tonight for your dog at home..if you want more pain relief you will have to go to an ER and have them administer narcotics..... I am opting out since you not happy with my service....good luck..

Hi I am Dr. Denney.

I am going to follow up behind Dr. B. What pain medications is Maya on? We may be able to increase her dose

Also which tooth was extracted? Maybe we can do some ice packing therapy if she will tolerate it.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

She is on half a tablet of carprofen 25mg
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Meghan Denney, Dog Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

That's the only medication they sent home?

That is an anti-inflammatory medication which we cannot mess with dosing because increasing the dose can lead to some nasty side effects.

Hmm. Do you have any other medications at home for pain?
