Customer Question
Hi , I need...

Hi , I need help. I had a mouse bait block in my laundry room and my twelve year old eastbound chewed the corners off. And swallowed it. It was just the corner tips. We've tried to induce vomiting, she won't vomit. What can we do now and will that much hurt her ? She weighs about 25 pounds.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if the mouse will be able to digest that. What is the mouse's name?

Dog ingested mouse poison.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the mouse?

It's not a mouse it's a dog that ate mouse poison. Pearl.

I am sorry to hear what happened. How long ago did the dog get the poison?

What did you try to get him to vomit?

What kind of poison was it; was it Tomcat (bromethalin) or D Con (anti coagulant) There is an antidote for D Con.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

If it is DCon, she needs the antidote if you can't get her to vomit. If it is Tomcat, a small amount may not make her sick.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

1 block of Tomcat is usually not enough to make a dog sick.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Rebecca, Dog Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

But even a little D Con would require getting the antidote.

I have not heard back from you; how is your dog doing?

Please let me know if my answer was helpful and if I can answer anything else about her.
