My 6 month old puppy is suddenly aggressive and thirsty

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Problems with drinking can be serious. I'm glad you noticed it. The Expert will know what to do. What is the dog's name?

His name is Bruno

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Bruno?

He was fine no signs of that were concerning until today he suddenly snapped and bit me when I tried picking him up.... He was also shivering as if he was very scared I tried calling him to comfort him but he refused to come near anyone he just wanted to be in his crate

Hello and thank you for using this site to help you. I am sorry your question was not picked up sooner.

What breed of dog is Bruno?

Is he able to hop on and off furniture without issue?

Can you tell me what preceded the bite? Where was he when you went to pick him up?

he is fine walking going up and down the stairs seems fine too....when I went to pick him up he was in his crate
Dog Veterinarian: Sally G., Dog Training Consultant replied 7 months ago

Usually dogs will suddenly act out if they are ill or hurt. some smaller dogs have problems with disc pain along the spine.

What breed of dog is he?

What is his temperament like normally, is he happy to see everyone , is he shy at first, any fear issues?

He is a shitzu he's always very friendly and excited when people come over. This morning he seems fine but still tries to bite when we want to pick him up. If I get near him he lays on his back so that we won't get him
Dog Veterinarian: Sally G., Dog Training Consultant replied 7 months ago

Thank you. I would be concerned that he is not feeling well. I might try giving him a baby aspirin (no tylenol, acetaminophen or ibuprofen products) . Then just let him rest for the day and see if there is a difference at nightfall or at least by tomorrow.

You can give one baby aspirin every 12 hours. Give with food. If there is inflammation, then this should take that down.

Usually when a dog is normally friendly and outgoing they don't suddenly act like this.
