My dogs got a hold of a vegetable dietary supplement pill…

Customer Question
My dogs got a...

My dogs got a hold of a vegetable dietary supplement pill bottle. It was sealed. I didn't realize it until they had chewed the bottle really well. The bottle says it has 90 pills but i only found 70. I'm worried they might have eaten some or all the others. The ingredients are peppermint leaf, ginger root, caraway seed, vegetable hypromellose, vegetable cellulose, magnesium stearate and Silica. Do I need to take them to the emergency vet to get stomaches pumped? Or will it just pass?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if your dog will be able to digest that. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your dog?

No, you don't. There's nothing toxic in that ingredient list even if ingested in excess. As will ingesting anything unusual gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but your dogs (miscreants?) weren't intoxicated and will remain safe. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

You're quite welcome. Someday I'll discover why dogs will eat anything that doesn't eat them first. I'll be rich.
