Customer Question
I have a female...

I have a female 10 month staffy mix who is super hyperactive. I was wondering how long I can run with her to tire her out.

Veterinarian's Assistant: What sort of animal are we talking about?

Staffordshire terrier mix puppy

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. I'll do all I can to help. What is the matter with the terrier?

How long can I run with her to tire her out?

Veterinarian's Assistant: Where does the terrier seem to hurt?

She's not hurt.

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. No obvious pain. What is the terrier's name?

Chloe

You can run her for 1-2 hours as long as you bring her water for hydration and make sure it is not too hot outside.

I would recommend staying on mostly grass as concrete can tear up her paws.

She will also let you know when she is tired when she slows to a trot or a walk.

Best time of day for this is in the morning and early evening to avoid straight sunlight and the heat.

A well-behaved puppy is a tired one :)

You can try to run her for up to 2 miles and see how she is feeling at that point. If she is still raring to go and doesn't need water then go another mile and so on and so forth. It is most important to monitor if she is thirsty or when she is tiring out and you will know.
