Customer Question
My 18month old Dalmatian...

My 18month old Dalmatian just came into the bathroom to find me, he was yelping in pain and wanted picked up. He had gotten into the dog food himself not too long ago, his abdomen is hard and distended, after several minutes he slowly laid down and he looks very tired....I thought I may have noticed a spot on his abd that appeared to stick out even further. But now I can't see anything. He acts like he's almost going to vomit but he doesn't, and i have heard gastro-type noises here and there. I called an on call emergency vet and haven't received a call back

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the dog?

He has been known to eat non food items

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Please let me know if you still need help. May I have an update on your Dalmatian, please? Gastric bloat and its sequela gastric dilatation and volvulus (a twisting of the stomach on its axis) which can be quickly life-threatening are my primary concerns in such a patient.
