Hello, as a licensed veterinarian I am happy to help you. The mediation you mention is the treatment of choice for this condition. However, sometimes dogs need to be treated for an extended period of time for full resolution of symptoms. Additionally, flare-ups can occur throughout life, which can require additional courses of this antibiotic. I therefore highly recommend you talk to your veterinarian about this, as it sounds like he may need another round of the antibiotic. Does this make sense?
