3- How many hours has it been since they ate it?

4- How much do they weigh?

5- Do you have hydrogen peroxide 3%?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
1- 25 ounces
2- dark (70%0
3- less than an hour
4- 20 kg each (there are two of them)
5- Don't know... am looking for it now
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Please let me know if you have hydrogen peroxide 3%?

I don't think so... Is there a substitute I can use?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

I am sorry there is not; we are very limited as to what you can do at home, I am sorry. I would recommend you take your dogs to the nearest ER veterinarian so they can induce vomiting. The amount of chocolate they ate can cause serious symptoms and even be fatal if one of the dogs ate most of it. I would not wait.

I realize that this answer may not be entire to your liking, and I regret being the bearer of information that you really don’t want to hear. But it would be unfair to you and unprofessional of me were I to provide you with anything less than truthful and honest information. I hope you understand.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service it is how I get compensated. See you again soon!

I got the conversion wrong... 2.5 ounces!
I have called the local vet but does this make a difference...?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Yes it does, so the total amount is 2.5 ounces for both dogs?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
that's correct.
I'm in a regional area so need to act quickly as 24hr vets don't really exist
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Friend, 2.5 ounces of dark chocolate is not going to be life threatening to 20 kg dog; he/she may get gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea otherwise he/she will be okay. If they shared the chocolate you may not see any symptoms. No need to phone your vet.

Please reply if you have additional questions.
