You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin. Welcome to JustAnswer. I'm currently typing up my reply. Please be patient. This may take a few minutes.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Both ethanol (alcohol) poisoning and mechanical obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract are the risks after ingesting raw bread dough. That would be predicated upon how much Molly ingested. I suspect that it wasn't nearly enough for a 75 lb dog to suffer such effects. Please estimate how much she ingested for me.

A ball of dough a little larger than as softball

Thank you. I would consider that a little snack for a dog of Molly's size. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns.

She seems to acting okay
Rather than knowing she did something bad
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Breathing normal - and not in pain. She ate it about 30 minutes ago

Good. Although unlikely watch for acting drunk - live yeast within the dough produces ethanol when exposed to a moist, warm environment such as the stomach. Watch for discomfort which is caused by uncooked dough expanding and producing gas following ingestion. These signs usually arise within 60 minutes if they're going to arise at all. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
