Yesterday morning I gave my dog some liver. Bits of fried onion was still attached to the liver. Last night he became ill. I suspect onion poisoning. What can I give him to reduce the effects/symptoms or should I rather take him to a Vet?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Did you see what your dog ate?

I think the onion on the liver.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about your dog?

Not really, except that he is a bit overweight, Rottweiler 60 Kg - 5 yrs old

Hi.

Dr. Paul Brazzell here.

I am sorry it took so long for someone to get back to you!

I am not worried about onion poisoning. I think rather that we are dealing with acute gastritis secondary to the food in general.

I presume that he was vomiting? Diarrhea?

Paul
