6 month boxer puppy ate acorns in back yard. has thrown up…

Customer Question
6 month boxer puppy...

6 month boxer puppy ate acorns in back yard. has thrown up twice. what should we do?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name?

Harper. We are dog sitting this weekend and our dog never touches the dropped acorns. But she really chopped on them. didn't realize they were toxic until she threw up.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Harper?

Her gums look pretty pink. first time she threw up, about 45 mins ago, could tell it was acorns. second time, just minutes ago, just watery looking without anything solid at all.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about this concern.

My worry is that there may still be acorns retained inside of the stomach or that they could have created an obstruction in the intestinal tract.

Definitely, well worth a vet visit and an abdominal x-ray to confirm if there is anything stuck.

can she wait until Monday or should we take her to emergency?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Andy, Medical Director replied 5 months ago

To help settle the stomach, you could give a 1/2 tablet of an over-the-counter 10mg Pepcid A.C. regular strength antacid.

Knowing that acorns were ingested and a few vomited up, I think I would really lean towards a visit today.
