Customer Question
My friends lab retriever Kuder...
My friends lab retriever Kuder got into a bait package 84 grams of bromethlain tonite and 1/4 of the bag was missing. We have been giving him activated charcoal and watching him closely. I calculated he ate approx 1/3 of .084 grams of the poison and weighs approx. 60#’s do you think it is possible for a dog to survive the amount he injested?

Hi.

Thanks.

Can you confirm the concentration of the Bromethalin in the bait?

My initial reaction is that we are going to be okay but best to let me run the numbers

01% bromethlain 99% bitter substance
Dog Veterinarian: DocPaul, Veterinarian replied 8 months ago

So he ate 1/4 of a 84 gram block of poison

This is 21 grams or 21000 mg block x .0001 (for 0.01% bromethalin) = 2.10 mg active ingredient in the block

Divide the 2.10 by 30kg for doggies weight and this is a very low dose

We are well below the 2.38-3.65 mg/kg LD50 for this drug.

He should be fine.
