My dashound feet are bad. He walks on part of his legs. Now his hind legs are not working properly. And he makes noises when he breaths

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?

This is all his feet. He gets a sore on one foot sometimes. I took him to the vet and she didn't know why his feet are doing this

Veterinarian's Assistant: The Expert will know what to do. What is the dog's name and age?

Toby and he is 10

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Toby?

He can't walk bt very little.or even get up the smallest step

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 8 months ago

1- Did your vet do any testing like x-rays?

2- How long has this been going on?

3- Did your vet start him on any medications?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
No x rays. It was been getting worse probably over the last 6 months. She gave him a arthrist medicine but it didn't do him any good. He hasn't taken anthing in the last month
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 8 months ago

Friend, what you are describing is consistent with a neuromuscular disorder. Common causes are a pinched nerve along his back as a result of a bulging disc, arthritis, etc. to name a few causes. I would recommend having x-rays done as an initial screening test. In addition, discuss with your vet about starting him on anti-inflammatory medication like corticosteroids. If cost is a concerned I would look into your local ASPCA or Shelter where they often offer veterinary services at a lower cost.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service. See you again soon!
