45 pound, ~2.5 year old basset/lab mix, dark coating with
45 pound, ~2.5 year old basset/lab mix, dark brown coating with minor white spotting in Southwest Florida, US. Otherwise normal canine, has been gulping and licking lips constantly for about 60 minutes after going outside to the bathroom (unleashed, fenced in, small yard, partially supervised). He has never had an episode such as this before. No foaming or panting but did vomit a foamy substance after minimal water intake shortly after the start of the episode. He is willing to eat ice and likely food. Occasional, audible sounds can be heard from the stomach. He did defecate hard stool shortly after the start of the episode, nothing abnormal about the stool. I took a rectal temperature with a reading of 101.4F approximately 45 minutes after the start of the episode. At this time, he is laying down and seems to be normal otherwise. Below is a link with two videos of him gulping, I can provide additional media and input as needed.https://www.amazon.com/photos/share/Fg7Fi7ZCicieJdBZAUnSSCZQKL8tnSSmTlOlXZVVbjAWe are looking for guidance based on the circumstances. … read more
