Is the medicine fluoxetine?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Dog Veterinarian: Dr B, Veterinarian replied 9 months ago

Of course I cannot say of this is the cause or not but for reasons we do not understand sometimes SSRI drugs like fluoxetine can really knock down a dog's appetite....your dog should get off this medication and hopefully the appetite will return. If not then you must see your vet. Perhaps after your dog's appetite comes back your vet can try a different type drug for the anxiety.....

It started with him not coming in the house
Dog Veterinarian: Dr B, Veterinarian replied 9 months ago

This suggest that something or someone has created a fear that makes him not want to come in the house....

Something must have happened inside
Dog Veterinarian: Dr B, Veterinarian replied 9 months ago

That is possible......and I do agree that he needs anti-anxiety meds but a different one than what he is on due to the effects on his appetite.....I hope that makes sense.....

Please rate my sevice as this is how I make money to support my family. Please give me a positive rating as that is the only way I am compensated. A positive rating will not close this question and I am more than happy to answer any follow up questions that you have. ( You can rate me at top right of page).

Please remember my answers do not replace or supersede the advice of your veterinarian as my answers do not create a valid client patient relationship as I am unable to examine your pet. Thank you very much! DrB
