Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Did you see what your dog ate?

Chicken, peppers onions and potatoes. The onions may be the issue?

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your dog?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Not very...generally, most dogs need to eat at least 0.5% (2.3 grams per pound) of body weight to develop onion toxicosis (anemia in a few days). How much does he weight, please?

Customer reply replied 8 months ago
60 lbsAlso I forgot to mention that she takes denamarin

60 lbs x 2.3 grams per pound = 138 grams = 4.6 ounces of onions...which she didn't ingest. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. As with ingesting anything unusual transient gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but she wasn't intoxicated. The Denamarin isn't an issue. Please respond with further questions or concerns.
