found generic/off-brand laundry detergen tablets...
found generic/off-brand laundry detergen tablets all over the back yard - neighbor kids are brats
gathered them all up, but I have no idea if my dogs ate any as they have a doggie door and free run of the yard when we're home
2 miniature dachshunds - a breed notorious for eating anything/everything....
their both weird, so when a vet asks me if they're "acting strangely" I honestly don't know how to answer because they are ALWAYS acting strangely
gums/tongue are pink, gums go from white to pink quickly after applying pressure with my finger
no idea on pulse, can't find it on either of them (they're tiny, I'm huge with big hands that have been beat up over the decades and can't feel things very well)
no loss of appetite, drinking water, ALWAYS lazy (especially after eating)
How long would symptoms take to show up?

No vomiting.

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question

Friend, when a dog ingests detergents symptoms that we expect are vomiting, lethargy, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. If you are not seeing any symptoms as such it is likely that they did not eat it. I would recommend you observe them for the next 24 hours. If they vomit or develop diarrhea this is what you can do:

1- Do not give things like Pepto Bismol or Imodium. Start them on Pepcid AC (famotidine) 10mg 1/4 tablet every 12 hours for 2-3 days. You can buy Pepcid AC over the counter in any pharmacy.

2- No food or water for 6-8 hours. Need to give her gastrointestinal tract time to rest.

3- After 6-8 hours offer a small amount of water. Wait half hour, if no vomiting, offer a small amount of rice (50%) and boiled boneless chicken or ground beef (50%) 4-6 times a day. Keep on this diet for several days then wean into regular diet.

4- If they continue to vomit after doing the above they will need to be seen by your family veterinarian for a hands on examination.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service. See you again soon!

They ate dinner just before I found the tablets in the yard. Any issues there since they aren't supposed to eat now?

You are only going to change the diet as described above if they develop gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea after you fast them.

Having had dinner should not be an issue.

OK, but 24 hours seems like a long time for symptoms to appear in a 10lb dog. It's coming up on just over an hour and a half since I found the tablets, which means it's been at least that long since they ate them (IF they ate them). Shouldn't I notice something by now? It seems that a tiny dog would exhibit symptoms pretty quick (compared to a large dog or a person).

Friend, some dogs may exhibit upper gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting within hours. Or, they can show lower gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea after 12-16 hours, etc. So, I would just wait and observe them.
