My dog just ate 3 zinc lozenges. The supplement facts per lozenge is 23 mg zinc (as citrate, gluconate). Is this toxic? My dog weighs 35 pounds

No, your dog will remain safe. 69 mg of zinc in a 35 lb dog is a very small ingestion. All of the home-cooked recipes I recommend include 50 mg of zinc as an important ingredient. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns.

Zinc salts become life-threatening at a dose of 45 mg per pound of body weight - 1,575 mg for your dog. Ingestion of 1 penny (2.5 g/2,500 mg) can cause toxicosis in most dogs. You're quite welcome. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
