She pants all the...

She pants all the time except when resting. Drinks alot of water. Very restless. Walks ths floor at night. She is maybe 12 years old. She was grown when rescued. She has nice coat. No hot spots. No fleas. Eats fine. Is having difficulties climbing stairs. She does have hearing loss and she is loding her sight

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?

And she seems to have more probkems seeing at night. Just for bsckground. I know most is related to old age. She seems to walk her daily rounds outside fine

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the dog's name?

It seems she falls back on her huunches snd cant push herself up.as if weak.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about the dog?

She is missing teetj from age. We dont ever give bones. But she still catch dmall wild animals in the field

Hi, I am sorry for the delay in response, it seems no experts were available when you posted your question. If you would like to continue can you answer a few questions:

1- Is she drinking more than usual?

2- Has she been seen by a veterinarian for this problem?

seems more at night when restless and not sleeping. During the day she sleeps good. Probsbleu from bring up sll night. Just like people.
And no. I have not taken her to the vet. She does not seem to be in any pain. During tbe day its unevent ful except for panting. But I live upstairs inside of Victorian. She stays close to me when I am home, but she starts going down down stairs ans wanting out around 4pm. Then more toward night the more she just wants in and out. But she just makes a round the property and comes back in. She has always been allowed to stay and sleep inside since I got her. Before that she was isolated outside alone at all times.

Friend, when a dog drinks more water than usual it is a sign of an underlying medical problem. There are many possible causes. I will not be able to pinpoint the exact underlying cause without a hands-on examination and some testing, I am sorry. But, common causes are an active infection, hormonal disorders (diabetes, cushing's), kidney or liver disease and even cancer to name a few causes. The panting could be a sign of discomfort, stress, heart or lung disease, etc.

As you can see from above her symptoms could be caused by many different medical conditions. To determine which of the above is the underlying cause your family veterinarian will need to do some blood work (chemistry profile, T4 & CBC) and urinalysis as an initial screening test. Treatment will be determined by exam and test results. If cost is a concerned I would look into your local ASPCA or Shelter where they often offer veterinary services at a lower cost.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service. See you again soon!
