My shepherd ate 2-3 deramax pills

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name and age?

Zeus is 1 yr 9 mos, weighs approximately 110 lbs

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Zeus?

He is on a raw diet and consumed 2 lbs of pultry mix just prior to getting into the deramaxx

How many mg were in each of those pills, please?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
100mg in each pill
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
he ate roughly 250mg, he is about 110lbs
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 10 months ago

Thank you. 250 mg/50 kg (110 lb) = 5 mg/kg. A 14-day study in dogs demonstrated no clinically observable adverse effects in dogs that received 4.5 mg/kg. With that in mind, I don't see the need to induce emesis. I would, however, dose Zeus with an over the counter antacid such as famotidine at a dose of 20 mg at 12 hour intervals for the next three days. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Thank you !! I didn't think it was a dangerous dose, but wanted to be sure.
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 10 months ago

errata: 4.5 mg/kg, not 4.5 mg/lb
