Our 55 lb carolina...

Our 55 lb carolina dog ate a large chocolate chip cookie and the plastic wrap it was wrapped in--do we need to be concerned?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the dog?

12 years old but otherwise very healthy.

There isn't nearly enough chocolate to intoxicate a 55 lb dog but I want to see if we can rid your dog of the plastic wrap by inducing emesis with 3% hydrogen peroxide dosed at 45 mL (3 measuring tablespoons) by means of a small poultry baster placed between her cheek teeth and cheek. She should vomit within 15 minutes. If not, you can repeat the same dose. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Thank you--we're going to the near by store for hydrogen peroxide right now, should have it in ten minutes.
