Hi. I’m Dr. Denise, a licensed veterinarian. I’d like to help with your concerns regarding Sheva.

How long ago did she swallow the plastic bag?

Was there anything else that she ate?

Customer reply replied 10 months ago
It was probably about a half hour to 45 minutes ago now she hasn't eaten really anything besides drinking water and my wife gave her some olive oil to hope to make it pass and she's just laying sleeping right now
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Denise, Dog Veterinarian replied 10 months ago

Ok, unfortunately Sheva is at risk for obstruction.

I recommend inducing Sheva to vomit. Do you have hydrogen peroxide?

He will need about (1ml/lb) of hydrogen peroxide orally.

Then walk him inside on a leash with a garbage bag to catch his vomit.

If he does not vomit within 10-15 min of the hydrogen peroxide, he can have a second dose.

It is important that he vomit to the point of dry heaving, to know that his stomach is empty.

How much does she weigh?

I can give her her hydrogen peroxide dose in ounces or tablespoons to make it easier to measure.

What if the bag gets stuck in her throat how can we get it out if she can't throw it up
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
Last time she was way too I think she was around 35 lb 40
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Denise, Dog Veterinarian replied 10 months ago

If you can feed her a few pieces of bread, or soak the hydrogen peroxide into the bread when feeding her, this is best.

This will help to bulk up her stomach contents and encourage them to come out in one ball.

Her peroxide does is about 30ml (1 ounce or 2 Tablespoons).
