I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Holistic means paying attention to the entire body while focusing on just a part. Any competent vet should treat in a holistic manner. Did you mean homeopathic, instead? Please let me know and I'll opt out to allow a naturopath to enter this conversation. You appear to be addressing a stage III patient very nicely. If you're interested in a home-cooked recipe for Winston, please tell me which primary protein (beef, chicken, salmon, eggs, tofu) Winston would prefer and I'll provide you wish such a recipe.

a vet that has experience/training in homeopathy and knowledge of veterinary nutrition for home cooking.
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 10 months ago

I'll opt out now. It would be best if you could emend your post by replacing "holistic" with "homeopathic".

Dehydration. Kidney disease. 18 yr old Italian greyhound.
18 yr old Italian greyhound. blind, no teeth. normally good energy and playfulness. just had bloodwork done, Creatinine and BUN elevated, liver enzymes elevated. Negative leptosporosis. 10.5lb. Rarely grinks water. Been giving him 3/4 of a cup of homemade chicken broth during day in his food. Finicky eater. On Cerenia and mirtazipine for hunger. Skin still tenting. about a 1-2 second snap back time on the skin. Have lactated ringers and needles. need to know what are the calculations in terms of how much to give. Vet tech said 60ml but no way is that going to be anywhere near enough as I've been giving him 175ml (3/4 cup) of the chicken broth during the day and not enough. I'm thinking if I can give him half his liquid in food and the other half under the skin on daily. I'm intuitively thinking 120ml under the skin and 120ml broth in food that should work. Want to make sure my calculations are correct. Also have questions about how to keep the fluid bag sterile.… read more
