My 10 yes old female, German Short Hair has strange growths…

Customer Question
My 10 yes old female...
My 10 yes old female, German Short Hair has strange growths on her nipples that have blackheads on them. They are getting very large. I have photos if I could figure out how to upload them here.
I am sad to say that as a business owner, I have been very busy and since her health is otherwise normal, I forgot to call a vet.
What could this be?

These pedunculated (hanging) growths are most often benign (in terms of not being invasive or metastasizing) and once removed surgically don't return. They don't respond to conservative (medical) care. They're usually hyperplastic (overgrowth of normal tissue) rather than neoplastic (cancerous). Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

What is the cause and why are there blackheads? The sebaceous substance that can be extracted has a foul odor.
How urgent is it that this is seen by a vet?
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Michael Salkin, Veterinarian replied 9 months ago

We assume that growths such of these are genetically predetermined. Blackheads (comedones) represent hair follicle plugging which is seen in dystrophic (abnormally growing) skin. The sebaceous exudate indicates that oily glands are present in the growths. Rancid oil is odiferous. There isn't urgency unless significant trauma and/or infection is present. Pedunculated growths are predisposed to being traumatized. Please continue our conversation if you wish.

I'm not sure if she is experiencing unseen health issues as a result or not. She has always been a nervous dog. Which we attributed to her being a kennel dog before we bought her (sight unseen and had her shipped). She is a trained bird dog and is not gun shy but oddly enough, is a nervous wreck outside of hunting. She jumps and scares over every noise she hears. She has become very "talkative" in the last few months. As soon as I get up in the morning she starts in very loudly. Not barking but more of the "ooor orrrr ooooorrr" thing. I always fill food and water before I even take my first sip of coffee so I attributed her talkative nature to her knowing that I will be taking care of her needs now that I'm up.
I'm starting to wonder if the talking is more of a communication on something else.

These shouldn't be related to an underlying health problem. Her surgeon would check for such problems prior to anesthetizing her to have those removed. Vocalizing due to pain wouldn't be restricted to the morning. It's more likely to be behavioral and exacerbated by her general anxiety disorder.
