I'm babysitting a golden retriever...
I'm babysitting a golden retriever about 60 lbs. The owner is afraid the dog is not feeling good and brought me a bottle of B12 Supplements 2500 mcg. The ingredients are as listed in order on the bottle: Mannitol, Crospovidone, Magnesium Stearate, Sucralose, Cyanocobalamin, Natural Flavor. He had treated the dog with 2 tablets this afternoon, the brought me instructions to try and get him 4 tablets a day. I truly fear giving a dog human vitamans. Please advise if I should go with his instructions. My gut says no. Thank you in advance.

The owner gave him 2 tablets early afternoon. The dog is old, about 10 years, with large fatty bumps on his body. He ate his normal dinner and drank the normal amount of water. He's seems more placid than normal though. No vomiting that I saw, but he was with the owner for about 4 hours after given the 2 pills.

Alright. This guy is an older dog that is in a new environment. He's going to be most likely off for a little bit. His normal routines are off. Honestly, those vitamins aren't going to do a lot for this. Personally, I would focus on keeping this older guys routines as much to the same as possible. I would try to feed him at the same time with the same foods. Give him the same walks, and let him have the same rest. More than likely in a short period of time, he'll be back to his normal self.

Thank you so much for your help. My mind is put to ease with your suggestion and advice.

I'm hoping everything goes well with this babysitting. Try to make sure there is nothing he can get into trouble with in your house / the new environment if he's in one. When a dog comes into a new place, that is when they can chew / eat something that can be a big issue.
