I have a 15 year old black Labrador retriever, male.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with the Labrador retriever?

I came home from work and he has been lethargic

Veterinarian's Assistant: Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the Labrador retriever. What is the Labrador retriever's name?

Buddy

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Buddy?

I just had him at the vet a month ago for all his yearly shots and exact. He was in good health according to our vet.

Hi, this is Dr. Sara. So, did he eat breakfast this am? Do you see any vomiting or diarrhea accidents in the house? Can he get up, or is he too weak and what is his gum color?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
No diarrhea. No vomiting. He did drink some water a couple of hours ago.
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 11 months ago

Black and pink gums

Ok that is good, did you offer him anything to eat yet? Is he on any meds for arthritis pain?

Ask Your Own Dog Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
He was diagnosed with arthritis in his hips and I gave him his prescription: Carprofen 75mg with a little peanut butter
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Sara, Veterinarian replied 11 months ago

Let's see if he'll eat for you. That should be a good test for a lab. Did you just give him his med now?

About an hour ago. He is eating!

I am wondering if his hips are bothering him

Yaaaayyyyyy. Maybe he is just painful and needs his Carprofen. Continue to check him gum color for the weekend. Monitor his respiratory rate at rest and if anything becomes increasingly concerning, have him seen at a 24 hr hospital. I think he'll be fine!!! Have a good night.
