Customer Question
My 9 year old...

My 9 year old greyhound was diagnosed with hyperthyroid. He lost his coat and lost a ton of weight. The thyroid medication brought his coat back and his weight is stable, although he is still thinner than normal for him. He then began to have muscle weakness and difficulty with his hind legs. (a limp). $5K of test showed no neurological or muscular skeletal issues. He takes pain meds (lots), thyroid meds, a very small pred dose, tons of vitamins, Chinese herbs and cannabis. He has responded well to acupucture. Still limps badyly, does not have as much stamina as he did, is thin and his hair from being shaved for spinal taps never grew back. He is very thirsty, pees frequently, but never has accidents. Cushings?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?

Yes LOL no wound and no corns, I'm a veteran grey girl

Veterinarian's Assistant: The Expert will know what to do. What is the dog's name?

Craig

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Craig?

He came to me with VERY inflamed gums. Horrible teeth! Nothing improved the issue. A specialty vet dentist diagnosed him with a nondescript autoimmune issue. Oh, and you should know he's the best dog ever.

It is very unlikley that your dog has cushings per se.....but of course pred can cause increased thirst and urination.....

If you do not have any other questions please rate me as this is how I make money to support my family. Please give me a positive rating as that is the only way I am compensated. A positive rating will not close this question and I am more than happy to answer any follow up questions that you have. ( You can rate me at top right of page).

Please remember my answers do not replace or supersede the advice of your veterinarian as my answers do not create a valid client patient relationship as I am unable to examine your pet. Thank you very much! DrB
