Not right now though. I sprayed with Chlorhexidine and also put some hydrocortisone on part of it.
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 11 months ago

1- Any improvement on the chlorhexidine and hydrocortisone?

2- Was he licking it?

Just put it on an hour or so ago. Isn't licking yet
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 11 months ago

Friend, a rash that comes on quickly can be caused by allergic reactions, infections, etc. You have done right with the topical medications you started. I would recommend you clean the area twice a day with the Chlorhexidine, then, apply hydrocortisone cream. If no improvement in 1-2 days I would have him checked by your vet for a hands-on examination. Finally, do not let him lick the affected area or the medication. If he does lick pick up an e-collar (cone) in your local pet store to stop him from licking.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you have any follow-up questions don't hesitate to ask. If finished, please take a moment to rate my service. See you again soon!

Thank you for the pictures; it does look like what we commonly call a hot spot. It should get better with the above topical medications.

Would he need antibiotics? Thanks so much for your help
Dog Veterinarian: Dr. Peter, Veterinarian replied 11 months ago

The chlorhexidine is a very good antimicrobial. I would start this first for a couple of days. If no improvement, then as we discussed above he should have a hands-on examination at which point the attending vet may start him on antibiotics.
