12 months ago the bun wa's 33 and creatinine was slightly elevated.

There does seem to be a significant progression in that case. Are you taking any measures to help take the strain off her kidneys?

review of diet, and more tests, new medication to be added. So what stage approximately would this be? She still eats, drinks, very active and loves to play.
Dog Veterinarian: Richard Rawling,

With Creatinine at that level, she would be stage 3 or 4 under the Iris staging scheme.

I am trying to locate Dr.. Kidney Failure. Lola, 14. Here is
Yes, here is what I typed into the Ask Dr. Emily box: Hi Dr. Emily, I read your reply to another customer regarding kidney disease and was quite impressed. I would like to engage you in a conversation about my 14-year-old beagle mix. I have blood results to share with you from 21 Nov and 5 Dec, which our vet interpreted as kidney failure with 6-12 months to live. He also had another vet administer an ultrasound which showed some physical damage to her kidneys but not her liver. He also pulled urine from her bladder with a SG of 1.010, clear, and found no growth after several days. What I would like to do is send you her blood readings. Can I scan and email them to you? Then I would like you tell me whether you find her in Stage 3 or Stage 4. Between her two visits, she was on a strong antibiotic, I don't recall the name. Her BUN went from 110 to 85, CRE from 3.6 to 3.5, CA from 11.9 to 11.5, PHOS from 7.7 to 6.1, and ALP from 24 to 20. Next I would like your opinion on food, supplements, and medicine. At the second visit, the vet recommended switching to a low protein diet, so we moved her from Wellness Core Original to Wellness Complete Health Small Breed Senior, mainly because it is the same brand and is turkey and peas, somewhat similar to Wellness Core. We switched immediately with no transition and she gobbled it up. We also moved our 12-year-old to this new food, but left our 3-year-old on the Core. I would like your recommendation on specific food brands and quantity for each of them. The new Wellness we are using only comes in small bags and will be relatively expensive to continue, but we are willing to pay for whatever is best for the three of them. The vet also prescribed Wei Qi Booster (200 mg Tea pill) as he specializes in Chinese and holistic medicine. He recommended against k/d food as he said dogs don't like the taste and it loses it's effectiveness if mixed with anything. I would also like your opinion of whether Kidney Support Gold by PetWellbeing would be a good addition to her diet. The vet's recommendation was to follow this course for two months and see him again. Thank you.… read more
