Customer: i accidentally gave my dog a 20mg dose of prednisone when she was only supposed to get 10 mg. she's taking it in combination with a treatment for heartworms. i need to know how concerned i should be.
JA: Where does your dog seem to hurt?
Customer: no pain

Customer: on doxycycline hyclate 200mg : 2x /day + prednisone

Don't give it a second thought. Dosing of prednisone is quite variable. You might see a transient increase in thirst, volume of urine, and appetite but she'll remain safe. Give her her regular 10 mg at the next scheduled time. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
