Thank you. You mentioned "white and scaly"; hence, my needing clarification. It appears to be an epidermal collarette which can indicate pyoderma (bacterial skin infection), dermatophytosis (ringworm fungus), or least commonly, autoimmune skin disease. Only ringworm would be contagious to you or your other pets. Moose's vet will want to fungal culture hairs from the periphery of this skin lesion and perform a cytology - microscopic exam of a small sample of the skin surface looking for abnormal numbers or either bacteria or yeast. Treatment, then, will be predicated upon findings in those diagnostics. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
