She ate cacao nibs during the night

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name and age?

Winnie and she's 1

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Winnie?

She seems to be walking weird. Like having a hard time keeping her legs under her

How long ago did she eat the nibs? Is Winnie showing any signs of vomiting or diarrhea?

I just woke up and found she got into the trash and ate a bag of cacao nibs. So I don't know how long it's been
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
no. But she seems a bit wobbly when she walks
Dog Veterinarian: Richard Rawling,

She may be suffering from theobromine toxicity which can be very serious. It may present with vomiting or diarrhea, nervous system signs such as restlessness, panting, ataxia (difficulty walking) and a high heart rate.

If she is showing these signs it is likely to be some time since she ate the cacao nibs, so inducing vomiting may be of little benefit. I would however advise having her checked over by your vet urgently, as cacao nibs can contain particularly high levels and can be severely toxic. Her outlook should be good with prompt treatment, but this can be very serious.
