Hello again,

Sorry to hear your Boston is uncomfortable, but in most cases this is not a serious situation, however I have worked out an answer for you below.

1. Bee stings and wasp stings in a dog would be like bee stings in a human. In most cases there would be pain and swelling and discomfort but that would gradually disappear over a period of a few hours so the best thing to do would be to just sit things out, remove the stinger if you can see it, but it will do not harm to leave it in any case. A very few dogs suffer allergic reactions in this sort of situation which can be dangerous but is very rare, seek immediate veterinary help if you suspect this.

2. I am aware that if there is appreciable swelling and discomfort many owners use benadryl { Diphenhydramine } in this situation but Diphenhydramine is not recommended for use during pregnancy (especially when the animal is near term) so really the best thing to do is just to observe your dog for present.

3. But in any case I should be available online for you the next four or five hours today so please do not hesitate to get straight back to me if your Boston's condition changes in any way or if you would like to talk things over with me further.

Regards,

Dr Scott
