Customer Question

I have a diabetic dog who is vomiting and not eating. What should I do about insulin injections?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the dog eat anything unusual?
Customer: I don't know. We have a water bowl outside that gets dirty if we don't monitor it carefully.
JA: What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Katy, Welsh Terrier, 11 years old
JA: What is the Welsh terrier's name?
Customer: Katy
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Katy?
Customer: No nothing that would relate to this issue.

When one meal is missed the same dose of insulin should be given. When two meals are missed, the dose should be halved. When three meals are missed, administration of insulin should stop and Katy's vet consulted. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
