Hello again,

I have worked out an answer for you below.

1. The normal dose of thyroxine in dogs can be up to 0.1 mg per pound every 12 hours so really no adverse effects will be expected in this case, however in any case this drug has a very high margin of safety in dogs so much so that even large overdoses very rarely cause any lasting adverse effects when given on a one time basis.

2. Given the above there are no special measures you need take, the chances are your dog will be just fine. But in any case I should be available online for you the next four or five hours today so please do not hesitate to get straight back to me if your dog's condition changes in any way or if you would like to talk things over with me further.

Regards,

Dr Scott
