Hi. I’m Dr. Denise, a licensed veterinarian. I’m happy to help with your concerns regarding Dexter.

A few questions:

1. How much does he weigh?

2. What dosage and version of Midol did he ingest? (You can list the active ingredients and strength or send a photo of the label)

3. How long ago did he eat it?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
1. 8 ponds
2. Regular midol
3.acetaminophen 500mg
Caffeine 60 mg
Pyrilamine maleate 15 mg
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

How long ago did he eat it?

So to clarify, he ate at half of a tablet. So 250mg Acetaminophen.

I would recommend that you induce him to vomit with hydrogen peroxide. Give a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide by mouth. If he doesn't vomit within 10mins, you can give another tablespoon of peroxide.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Not really even half it was like the end of it
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Because he is such a small dog, he received a rather high dose of Acetaminophen, which is toxic to dogs and can be damaging to the liver.

How long ago did he eat it? (For reference, your first post is time stamped 30mins ago)

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Yeah that's right
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

So he ate it immediately before you posted your question?

Ok, do you have hydrogen peroxide? He needs a dose now to induce him to vomit the medication before any more of it is absorbed into his system.

I think he just got the top coating off it
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Is that what he vomited up? It looks like 2 pills (one of them broken)

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
That's what I took from him before he started got it
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
In his mouth
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
He's acting like normal
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Gotcha. So, is there ANY chance he could have ingested any other pills?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

If he ingested any of the medication, he will act normal for a day for few but it will be quietly causing damage to his liver. If you are ABSOLUTELY certain that he didn't get any other pills, it looks like you both escaped an evening at the emergency vet.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I just had a little tan setting on coffee table and then seen him wripping it up
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Well, I'm very glad that you caught him before he actually got to swallow them.

I hope you both have a peaceful evening now.

His nose is hot and dry
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Ok. It is an old wives tail that dogs need to have cold wet noses. I'm not concerned if its dry.

Does the rest of his body feel warm? like his ears?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No just his nose
Expert:  Denise Cudiamat replied 2 months ago.

Ok, then I wouldn't be too concerned.
