My dogs got into a raisin biscuit. I wasn't sure if they both ate it or just one. Both received apomorphine, charcoal and subcutaneous fluids within approximately an hour.. The tech said my small dog presented raisins in her vomit, but my other dog, an 80lb lab mastiff mix did not. Both dogs were extremely thirsty upon returning home, but my large dog has now vomited twice and seems to be a bit wobbly. She has been pacing around until a few moments ago. I am having trouble getting a tech on the phone at the ER because they have so many emergencies in there. I was told when I called to ask them about the vomiting to bring her back if she doesn't stop throwing up approximately two hours after treatment. I'm equally concerned about the vomiting and her unsteadiness. Is this a cause for concern.

Since vomiting and excessive thirst can both be signs of raisin toxicity I would take your Mastiff back to the ER and leave her and let them assess more critically......this may not be due to the raisins but I would not recommend taking that chance......

can I answer any other questions for you today?

Please give me a positive rating as that is the only way I am compensated. A positive rating will not close this question and I am more than happy to answer any follow up questions that you have. ( You can rate me at top right of page).
Please remember my answers do not replace or supersede the advice of your veterinarian as my answers do not create a valid client patient relationship as I am unable to examine your pet. Thank you very much! DrB
