Ask a Dog Vet and Get Answers to Your Dog Health Questions
Hello, I'm Dr Gary. I've been practicing veterinary medicine since 2007. I look forward to helping with your questions/ concerns.
Brodifacoum is an anti-coagulant, it can cause bleeding 2-5 days after the ingestion.
You will need to go to a vet for this. Here's the treatment:
1. Induce vomiting to get up as much as you can
2. Give activated charcoal to bind any toxin left in the gut
3. Start Vitamin K (the antidote) and give that for 30 days
When caught early and treated appropriately, I have never seen a dog go on to bleed. Your dog should do just fine.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
