Vomiting started today?

No new treats/people food or other dog food the past two days?

Is the dog otherwise normal?

Any diarrhea?

Is your dog on any medication currently?

Still eating/drinking?

the vomiting started today. He is eating the same soft & hard food for the last 3 years. He is otherwise normal. No diarrhea. He isn't on any medications. I notice the last couple of days he hasn't really been eating or drinking water
Dog Veterinarian: Dr Aaron, Veterinarian replied 4 months ago

Thank you for the additional information.

There are many different causes for decreased appetite / vomiting .

The most common we see are:

1 'stomach bug'

2 gastroenteritis (ate something that causes symptoms)

3 pancreatits

4 foreign body ingestion causing an obstruction

If a dog isn't interested in eating/drinking for multiple days and then starts vomiting...it gets me concerned for a few reasons.

Dogs (especially small ones) can become dehydrated quickly if they aren't eating/drinking and with vomiting.

The fact that this has been going on for a few days makes me more likely to recommend seeking treatment.

If you're able to take the dog to your local vet that would be the best choice.

They can perform a physical exam, offer diagnostics (such as x-rays of the abdomen and blood work) and then discuss possible treatment. Treatments can be given through hospitalization or on an outpatient basis.

Outpatient care for this type of presentation often includes hydration (subcutaneous fluids -- under the skin), Cerenia (antinausea injection that lasts for 24 hrs), and a bland diet (to allow food to digested easily).
