My 16 year old, 70 lb greyhound/lab was given supplements with her dinner by my 9 yr old granddaughter that she thought was glucosomine. Instead it was Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc supplements for humans. a Serving size is 3 tablets, and the ingredients are as follows: Calcium 1000mg, Magnesium 400mg and Zinc 25mg. Is Ruby the dog going to have a toxicity issue? She ate it with a bunch of dog food
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. The Veterinarian will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name?
Customer: (Grandchild put it on Ruby's dinner) Dog=Ruby
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Dog=Ruby?
Customer: She's deaf, has limited eye sight and her hips are not her friends these days. My house is full of stairs. With the help of the glucosomine daily, she can still navigate the 4 steps to go outside about 5-6 times daily

Those supplements will be well-tolerated by Ruby. They're well within dosing guidelines for dogs. As with ingesting anything unusual transient gastrointestinal distress in the form of inappetence, vomiting and/or diarrhea can arise but Ruby wasn't intoxicated. There's no need to induce emesis or treat in any manner. Please respond with further questions or concerns.
