We go to bed around 10:30pm, and our 12 yr. old shih Tzu
goes to bed with us, as he always has. About 3 weeks ago, he began waking us up around 1:30am trembling, panting, wanting to jump off the bed. If we put him outside, he stands, paces aimlessly, wanders but doesn't always pee. If we get up with him, he wanders around the house. Acepromazine 2.5 mg. is ineffective in stopping this, just makes him drunk while doing behaviors
We tried crating him, and he barks/crys, last nite for 1-1/2 hours. This morning & during the day, his is fine, SLEEPS! We are dying--Help!
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What sort of animal are we talking about?
JA: OK. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help the Shih-Tzu. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the Shih-Tzu?
