Customer Question

My 7 year old intact male bichon/poodle mix is swollen on the underside of his groin. Just noticed today after he was playing. He does not seem to be in distress and is acting normal. I pressed on it gently and it didn't bother him. I can attach a picture.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Strange behavior is often perplexing. I'm sure the Veterinarian can help you. What is the poodle's name?

My two main considerations are a lipoma - a benign fatty mass - heretofore unnoticed although it would have been present for quite some time or weakening in the inguinal musculature representative of an inguinal hernia. I don't see inflammation suggestive of an envenomation by biting insect but that should be on the differential diagnosis list if this swellign arose rapidly. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
