Our is very sore and now bald on the rear part of his back

Customer Question

Hi. Our ***** ***** is very sore and now bald on the rear part of his back and base of his tail. I think he originally had flea bites a few months ago that he used to bite at, but it has gone untreated and now has progressed to covering a 6"x2" area along his back by his tail. It is currently hairless and he still bites at it. I don't think he has fleas any more. What can we do.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

How long has he been showing these signs?

Where does he seem sore?

Any discomfort under the tail or around the anus? Any sores or lumps?

Any discomfort with his hind legs or back?
Any changes to the skin besides hair loss (ie pustules, pimples, redness, crusts/scaling, ulcers, or sores)?
What flea treatment did you use? When did you last apply it?
