My 9 year old dog who is usually very social has been acting

Customer Question

Hi my 9 year old dog who is usually very social has been acting strange all night. He has been going to hide in other rooms and appears to be in pain. He's also walking in a strange way with a shuffle type movement from his back legs. He also has a very new and relatively large bump on his side beneath his rib cage
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?
Customer: Nope I haven't seen one
JA: The Veterinarian will ask you more detailed questions to find out what is causing this. What is the dog's name?
Customer: Riley
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Riley?
Customer: He had a bengin cyst drained recently but no other health issues. He seemed to be acting normal up until this evening. We're not sure if the new lump has something to do with it or not

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Does he seem hunched up?

Any pain when you palpate that lump, press on his back or his belly?

Any discomfort if you flex/extend his joints on his back legs?

Any sores, swelling or boney instability ?

Are his gums pink or pale/white?

Any change to his breathing?
