Stopped eating and taking water today. Baxter. 6 year old

Customer Question

Stopped eating and taking water today.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the dog's name and age?
Customer: Baxter. 6 year old Yorkie. Lethargic Stands still when put on floor. Cries sometimes when you pick him up but gets comfortable when down
JA: Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help Baxter. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Baxter?
Customer: Not that I can think of. Tried to check him all over. Doesn't cry then but does when picked up. We are traveling and away from his regular vet. We won't be home until next week. Don' know what to do

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Any gagging, retching, lip licking, drooling or vomiting?

Any changes in his breathing or does he seem sore in his mouth?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Where are you pressing when you lift him?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Any diarrhea?
