There is a dearth of studies of this drug in dogs. Single dose oral studies in dogs (up to 1500 mg/kg) revealed no other drug-related effects than those related to the pharmacodynamic action of apixaban. No dogs died due to excessive bleeding. It woud be prudent to induce emesis with 45 mL (3 measuring tablespoons) of 3% hydrogen peroxide given in a small poultry baster placed between her cheek teeth and cheek. She should vomit within 15 minutes. If not, please repeat the same dose. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
